OK, you guys. I'm willing to "go organic" but what can I do to make my yard weed-free and nice and green? Seems the only way to stop weeds is with chemicals, unless you can give me an alternative.

I would suggest you go to the dirtdoctor.com.
The only way to get weeds under control, is to increase your soil's health. Bye having healthy soil, the grass will sprout up faster in the Spring and start to choak out the weeds.
If you are going organic you have to understand that some weeds in a yard is no big thing!! Feed the soil.....the plants and grass will love it...
