Hi IvyWalls - I have ONE small plant of this - it was in complete shade all last year & did nothing. This year I moved it to a sunny spot & it's still not growing or spreading. I don't remember where I originally got it, but I will backtrack/think where I bought each new thing from last year. In the meantime, if you can't find it anywhere, and if you could possibly use just one, please let me know. I have dozens of the plain green oxalis but only this one purple.

Ivy, you didn't mention in what area of the country you live. Here in North Texas I run into the Purple-Leaf Oxalis in many of the nurseries. I haven't been plant shopping in a while (100+ temperature and getting home from work late kind of put a stop to gardening for awhile) so I don't know if they're available right now. Do you live in North Texas?

I live in the southern part of Arkansas. I have been searching for the Purple-Leaf Oxalis (Oxalis regnellii 'Atropurpurea'). I would apprecicate any information on the location of a nursery that carries it.

Hello Wilma,
I will have some at our plant sale this year....If you don't mind the drive...If not you should try Home Depot or Lowe's....Good Luck...They are a wonderful, forgiving plant..It does not like 90' to 100' degree temperatures, so it takes a little time off...Put comes back with a vengence.....

Since the dates on these queries are from a while back, no one may be out there... But for those intrested... I live in Central Florida and have NEVER saw one until this weekend. I was at a yard sale where a lady had 2 pots (one mediun & one small). When I was absolutely astounded, she gave me a small piece.. I have it in the best potting soil with a little sand, in filtered shade (like hers was).
I'm hoping that it will do well!!! It is gorgeous!!!

I am looking for an Oxalis regnellii plant. My mother was given a green shamrock plant in the spring of 1988. At the time I was the only one who could keep plants alive so she gave it to me. Well, after 4 moves across the country and many years later, I still have the plant. It has good and bad days. I thought I was going to lose it when we moved from Chicago to Vegas last summer. But it is slowly coming back. I am now searching for a new plant to cross breed with the old guy. Let me explain… my cat (she is now 14) loves this plant. It is like kitty dope to her. Despite the many hours of begging… we only let her eat one leaf a day but the plant is having troubles keeping up with her. I have looked at the local Home Depots, Lowes and plant stores in the area. Does anyone know of an online location or another store I have not thought of where I can buy a plant or bulb? Both the plant and the cat will appreciate any response you may offer.
Thank you.
