Arlington Organic Garden Club: Organic Gardening Info: Is Anyone being pestered by GRASSHOPPERS this year?

Hi, I want to ask if anyone else is being pestered by grasshoppers this year? For 3 years, we have had chickens, so never had grasshoppers. This year, they are eating holes in lots of our flower leaves & no telling what else I haven't discovered yet. I don't see many, maybe 3 or 4 a day in entire yard, but I'm sure they'll multiply. Thank you.

Jeanette, I haven't had too much of a grasshopper problem. It could just be my shady yard (or the fact that I haven't watered much so nothing looks all that appetizing to them). I have heard others at work complaining about them, though.

Have you tried Nolo Bait?

Hi Angie; Thanks for the reply! No, to the Nola Bait - I've never heard of it. LOL to nothing looking appetizing to them. Here, we've had solid shade for about 15 years. This Spring, we had to have 2 giant trees cut down, one Elm & one Hackberry. I have been so wonderfully pleased with all the grass coming back, and with having flowers again. I do water every day, so pleased with lots of green. But, I have always thought grasshoppers loved dry, arid conditions, not damp. Oh well; if they return next summer, I'll ask at nurseries for the Nola Bait. Thanks again, & Happy Gardening to you! P.S. - I'm out by Mesquite, but haven't found a board yet for Mesquite or East Dallas.
